It's Monday 31st of December 11:11am. I'm sitting at my desk at work, got another 9 hours ahead of me, and then I'll be going to a concert with a pretty great line-up to see out the last of the year.
I'm not one for resolutions. Mostly because I don't wait for the changing of a calender to try and improve myself. That's an ongoing project and doesn't end. I do like to take note at this time though. I like to look back on the year and see how things are going for me. Evaluate my life, if you want to be a little dramatic about it.
And the result for this year? Pretty sweet.
I'm hard on myself, excessively so I'm told. I'm an ambitious person riddled with insecurities, you know the usual creative type. But despite my usual tendancies to beat myself up for not running the world, 2012 has been my most successful year yet and I need to take the time to enjoy that and also thank all the people who made it so.

Showtime at the Apocalypse!
As you know, on the 21st of December the world was supposed to end and depending on your point of view it either did or didn't.
To celebrate our survival/death, both Molly Lewis and The Doubleclicks decided to put on a live web show filled with music and zombie based comedy. The girls also asked their friends to send in some videos of how they're spending their apocalypse and I was able to contribute.
The show was live but thanks to Google Hangout it was simultaneously recorded and is available to watch below! So check out #MollyClicks play some great music and see how Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett, Marian Call, Patrick Race, Joseph Scrimshaw, and I are spending our end times.
Also, if you want to skip to certain parts (it is an hour long show) Molly has handily provided this chapter list.

Weekend Justice #184: Two Tables Flipped For Your Face
Wow... OK so... this involves a rather awkward introduction from me. The night of this week's Weekend Justice recording I was celebrating the holidays with my drama group in the pub. On my way home from the pub I got a message from Scott to get on the call. Which I did. And it probably wasn't a great idea.
To give some perspective, when looking at receipts the next day it appears I had at least 2 pints of cider and 8 long island iced teas in the space of a couple hours. I was niiiiiiiiiicely toasted.
Normally with the episode agendas I leave in the parts I remember but this week...
... is all I can remember.
Joining me on this call is (I think) Widge, Jon, Rox, Kim, Tuffley, Leigh, Scott, and Rob.

- Serious Tolkien fannishness
- Drunk Irishman!
- The Irish Sexy Elba Song
- Aaron's amazing drunk dials
- Drunk intros
- Rob, more befuddled than ever
- Rock Lobster!
- Fruitcake bonus!
- How to record from your bed. While drunk.
- What's weird about lesbian arms
... is all I can remember.

Aaron’s WWEport – My “Fave Five” of 2012
NOTE: The article was originally published by me on TheWebsiteOfDOOM.com
Wow, what a year. I'm not saying it was great but it was definitely a year. So much has changed in the WWE since I did my Fave Five of 2011 but yet not really at the same time. CM Punk is still champion. John Cena is still over used. Most worrying of all, Khali still gets more air time than Zack Ryder.
The real question is; has my Fave Five changed at all?
Without a doubt Goat Face is my top performer of the year. He never has a bad match. Always gets big pops when he arrives. Has done amazing things with terrible material. He's just so, so good.
Think about it. If I told you at the start of the year that pre-taped counceling sessions with Bryan and Kane would be one of the best things on WWE you'd check to see if I had lost it. And considering that a year ago he was exhiled to Smackdown, it's hard to believe that he went on to have arguably CM Punk's best matches this year and is now "the Tag Team Champions".
Most wrestlers on the roster would kill to be as over as Bryan is right now and yet I still feel like there is so much more to come. Somehow, he still feels under-used. But everything is moving in the right direction so lets hope it stays that way.

The Smartest Man in the World Podcast: Vampires
The inclusion of this podcast on my blog is cheating a little bit as I only appear in Greg Proops' podcast for 3 minutes. He recorded this episode in Dublin last month and I was in the audience for the live taping. He takes questions at the end and despite the fact that he went way over time that night I managed to get a question in. But, weirdly, despite me making it to the final cut of the show the question I asked him didn't. What did make it was a short conversation I had with him before I actually asked anything.
But you know what? The guy is one of my comedy heroes so I'l take it. It's the closest to working with him I may ever get.
The picture below was taken on the night (not by me) and is vital to know what the fuck I'm talking about with him.
The show is nearly two hours long but my little cameo is at 1:40:00.

The Advent Calender Of DOOM 2012! Day 14
NOTE: This article was originally posted be me on TheWebsiteOfDOOM.com
I'm back again, helping JJ get through the Advent Calender without losing his will to live. Mostly. I'm not entirely sure my last entry had any sort of sanity related to it and this one is no different!
JJ has told me on many previous occasions that his favourite Christmas song ever ever ever ever is Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl. And sure, 'tis a mighty song indeed. But it wasn't the only version of that song that I grew up with.
Dustin The Turkey is a household name here in Ireland. Known as much as, if not more than, The Pogues themselves. He's had a television career spanning 20 years and even represented us in the Eurovision song contest. He also can't sing.
Dervla Kirwan is an actress. She also can't sing.
Together they combined in 1997 to create a... memorable... version of the legendary song. And now, I get to share my pain.
Sorry JJ.

12 Days of Tickmas: Day 1
I decided that this year's Christmas countdown should be blue. Tick blue. Ben Edlund's wonderful creation is a wonderful mix of genre skewering comedy. I'm going to post lots of different artist's interpretation of the big guy but to kick things off here is something from the creator, Edlund, himself.

HANDS DOWN: How it was supposed to go...
It's been nearly two years since Hands Down, the first and so far only comic strip I've ever written, had it's last "issue" see the light of day. It wasn't supposed to end with episode 24. In fact, I had written several more before that one was even released. However, due to a number of reasons, the incredibly talented artist for the series (and the strip's co-creator) John Merker could no longer continue the tough, work-heavy, unpaid position.
I won't get into my personal feelings for the project but if I tell you that it's one of the best things I've ever been involved with, you can probably gleam from that how fond I am of it. So to have it forever stalled and unfinished has bugged me for the last two years. I would have liked to end it properly. It was a love-letter to friends and the online community so I'd like to finish that letter and send it, so to speak.
As a result, I have taken the decision to release my scripts for the comic that would have finished off the story arc we had started before it finished.
I'll present them here the same way I would send them to John. I would leave the descriptions for each scene pretty sparse as John had a wonderful way of directing the art himself that I didn't want to micro-manage or stunt by over-describing the scenes. He has a gift with design and giving him free reign took advantage of that so I only got into the direction if I had something important or specific required. But hopefully despite the lack of detail you can still enjoy the story and maybe your imagination will be just as good as his.
The last couple of episodes at the end need more work and probably would have been re-written before being released along with maybe extending the arc by a couple episodes but that's not happening now so you might as well see them in all their original awkward glory.
I hope you enjoy...

Blankety Blank - Dragon*Con 2011
I'm very proud to present this video from Dragon*Con last year. It was the first time we did Blankety Blank at the NeedCoffee FunFest and I was extremely excited to host the show.
I got the footage from the FunFest in August this year and yes, it has taken me this long to get anything out there. Also, it's surprising to no-one that the first thing I edited together was my big part of the night. Yes, I'm that much of a egomaniac. But I am human enough to admit that it's not a perfect video. There are some sound problems and such that I just couldn't fix.
So sit back and relax and watch our full Blankety Blank episode below. Please beware that it's COMPLETELY NSFW. In fact, it's not-safe-for-most-people.

The Advent Calender Of Doom 2012! Day 9
NOTE: This article was originally posted by me on TheWebsiteOfDOOM.com
Remember Grease? Me too. Great movie. Such a good musical. Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta (no relation) were so brilliant as the lead characters Sandy and Danny. I just wish we could somehow relive that glorious time.
Well you can't. It's over. We can't go back. But don't tell that to Olivia and John! They're back with a Christmas album. That's right. If you don't believe me, here it is:
Now, if you managed to not throw up in your mouth at this point, congratulations. But don't go just yet. No. Because I have a your prize. It's the music video for one of the songs! And, you guys, IT'S FREAKING AMAZING! So watch it with all the awkward dancing and cheap production value. Watch it twice and tell your friends. You know you want to.
Yup, John Travolta justs roams around in his personal plane. No he doesn't fly it. That would be stupid.

Tease Me, Baby! Star Trek Into Darkness
NOTE: This article was originally published by me on TheWebsiteOfDOOM.com
Much was made of JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot. I quite liked it. It was a very different sort of Star Trek movie, more action than science, but it was an enjoyable romp despite some of it's issues (future Spock, I'm looking at you). And for the record, I never noticed the lense-flares. Not once.
There has been much talk about this sequel already. With the recession delaying it's production by a number of years we've had plenty of time to speculate. Immediately upon the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch the world wondered if he was to be the new Khan. Apparently it's not to be.
Then there is the title. Normally it would be Star Trek: Into Darkness. Or Star Trek: Trouble In Jamaica even. That semi-colon is important. But Star Trek Into Darkness makes me cringe for reasons only my English teacher might explain.
The trailer is out now and so it's time to finally get a hint of what's in store for us on the USS Enterprise.

The Drive-In Of Doom! - X-Men 2
Your favourite comic-book-movie-adaptation-commentary-podcast is back! I really hope we're your favourite one. If there is another podcast that specializes in only comic-book movie adaptation commentaries that you listen to at all, I'll be kinda surprised. Maybe I should add the "monthly" moniker too just incase.
This month we take a stab at X-Men 2 and see if it stands up after nearly a decade. Our drinking game this month is to take a drink every time JJ sounds a little bit like a robot (thanks Skype!).

My Favourite Things: November 2012
NOTE: This article was originally published by me on ASiteCalledFRED.com
Hello! The holiday season is almost upon us, or it already is depending on your point of view. But before Santa comes to teach capitalism to the baby Jesus (I think that's what happens) there is still enough time for me to share with you my list of favourite things from November.
1) The M In MTV
A comedy duo named Brian & Maria have created a funny (and scarily accurate) sketch called "Ask A Network Head" which asks the question "Why doesn't MTV play music videos anymore?". The answer is not only dead-on but also damn hilarious.
It's time to hear the truth, folks. Even if it is from a comedy sketch writer and not the actual horse's mouth.
