Bench Monday... Apparently

CLICK ME TO SEE!

Over at DOOM I wrote a little article sharing a find I came across at Flickr today.

Basically there is a group of photographers dedicated to the art of taking a picture of people/things on benches. It's better than you might think.

Although some of it is probably exactly what you think.

Hey Mickey

The Irish general election is this week and as such, election humour is rampant everywhere.

Bavaria have come up with quite the doozy and this poster is ubiquitous right now.

Weekend Justice #102: It's a Mixing Board. In Space.

CLICK ME!
I always find it difficult to explain this mess so I will let Widgett do it for me.

It's Weekend Justice: the Internet's #1 audio trainwreck. It's the podcast that won't stop FedExing ferrets to you. At work. This podcast was engineered--some might say over-engineered--by experts to escort you from the work week in the most chaotic manner possible. Please note: this podcast is profane, definitely oversexed and definitely overwrought. It is wrong and unsafe. You have been warned.

You got that? Good. Click the picture to listen to the episode. And, you iTunes subscriber types can nab this feed here. To download this episode directly, click this Your Weekend Justice #102: It's a Mixing Board. In Space.

Tease Me, Baby! - Thor

As mentioned previously, I'm very much looking forward to the Thor film. It's being released on the 6th of May and Marvel have released the second theatrical trailer for it.

My judgement? Well you'll have to click the rainbow to find out!

My Girlfriend: Genius

Last night myself and my girlfriend were talking about the Word-A-Week video I made a few days ago. She provided the flashing light for the Spider-Man musical number by waving a torch. When I was editing that video together I realised something that I was oblivious to while recording. She had made a "meow" noise while waving the light.

It was baffling to me at the time and we had a good giggle at the lunacy of it all. During our conversation, we were both rather tired as it was late at night. The missus was trying to tell me I should have left the cat noise in the video. Her argument was that it made a good sound effect. While making her case she uttered quite possibly the greatest sentence an internet geek like me could have heard from another human being. She told me that the sound effect would work in the video because "Spider-Man was West Wing a cat".

...YES. Yes he was.

I understand that she meant to say "Spider-man was rescuing a cat" and that her sleepy mind just mixed up the words, probably because she was fantasizing about Martin Sheen at that very moment. However, my mind could barely contain the awesome possibility of the suggestion. Spider-Man West Winging a cat.

I had to see how this could work.

Hands Down #22 - Valentine's Day

When we started to do this comic we used several people we know as the characters. Including myself! However, now that we've been doing it for just over a year, I found that I had to start doing things with these characters that changes them. They're not really based on our friends anymore, the Hands Down crew have taken a life of their own and I just see them as separate people now.

As such, this week starts my first really big story arc on the strip. This will take up most of the year so strap in as we have a bit of fun. And to those who these characters were originally based on... I'm sorry ;)

Word-A-Week Vocabulary Vlog #23 - Stegophilist

Sorry I'm incredibly late this week, it's just been so busy in the Fever house hold and it's been hard to be creative.

Hopefully my world exclusive will make it up to you in some small way.

Tease Me, Baby! - X-Men: First Class

I was a geek-in-rage at the end of X-Men 3. It was shit and I haven't forgiven it since.

However, Matthew Vaughan, director of Kick-Ass, is hoping to bring me back into the fold. The first trailer for his prequel film has just hit the net and I give my reaction over at The Website Of Doom.

So click the flying submarine below to both read my thoughts and see the trailer itself.

I Am Your Candidate

Found hanging in the window of Hogan's pub on George's Street. Made me smile, despite the looming general election depression.

Raw Season 3 or How I learned to stop worrying and start loving Joe Doyle

For those who don't know, Raw is an Irish television "drama". It's a drama in the sense that Hollyoaks and Gossip Girl are hard hitting social commentary, but it's difficult to label the show anything else so lets go with that for now.

Raw Season 1 promotional picture.

Raw follows the lives of a slowly rotating cast of characters who work in the restaurant of the show's title. So in between all the longing glances and evil snares we're treated to lots of food prep montages. It's a simple enough premise and it looked like it had a bit of a budget so when Raw first aired I thought I'd give it a go. Despite Ireland's terrible reputation for home grown shows, I found it pretty watchable but what kept me around was another surprise... Joe.

Joe Doyle: sexy man extraordinaire.
Joe Doyle is a good acquaintance of mine. I hesitate to use the word friend because despite a period in my life when I saw the guy regularly it's been a few years now and we don't keep in touch all that much outside of the odd Facebook status-liking. I still feel that we could call each other for a favour without hesitancy but we don't call each other for chats so I don't want to over stretch the importance of our relationship.

He's a musician, actor and all-round dream boat to boot which makes him that type of guy that girls love and fellas with will keep their girlfriends away from. Apart from liking the guy I also was/am a big fan of his music so when he popped up in the background of the Raw kitchen with a vegetable in his hand and a puppy dog look in his eyes I got a little excited. "Holy shit it's Joe!" was precisely my shout from the couch I was slouching in. My girlfriend rolled her eyes as she knew she would have to endure my man-love for a TV extra on a weekly basis now.

Republic of Ireland 3 - 0 Wales

I took a trip to Lansdowne Road to watch the Irish football team play Wales in the first game of a friendly tournament. The stadium was half empty and the first half of the game was boring as hell but three goals in the second half meant that it was all worth braving the cold.

I quickly took this picture after Darron Gibson scored the screamer that was the first goal. I thought it might be nice to give some of my more foreign readers a look into our new stadium.

Tease Me, Baby! - Capatin American: The First Avenger

The Superbowl last night saw the debut of the Captain America TV trailer. This trailer is the first footage from the movie anyone has seen so far and I was salivating for it's arrival. I've dissected what was offered over at The Website Of Doom.

So click Chris Evans' rock hard pecks to see the trailer and my thoughts on it.

Weekend Justice #100: We Shave the Turkey and Stroke the Bacon

CLICK ME TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW!

The podcast with the largest cast* and the longest run-time* reached it's 100th episode this week in what they decided was a good idea... a live recording. Yeah... Now unfortunately I couldn't be there but I recorded a message for those present so I do kind of make a short cameo. Go listen to the madness and the Skype problems.

Poole's Polls - February 2011

My first DOOM poll ended in a complete whitewash as Tom Selleck sweeped the votes to win the DOOM reader's favourite mustachioed man. Congratulations to Tom, he couldn't be with us to accept this award as he is currently shooting on location but managed to leave us this message "um, thanks?".

This month we're polling you for your thoughts on the world's best ginger. So beware of the freckles and click Molly Ringwald's virginal face to cast your vote.
